The Mycelia Table is a defining piece that emerged alongside the development of the Hills Table and the Bending Table. Within the studio’s process, working on multiple projects simultaneously often allows ideas, techniques, and forms to evolve naturally across different works. Elements developed in one piece frequently find new expressions in another, resulting in a continuous unfolding of new designs.
When making the Bending Table the studio introduced a new technique: bending the edges of the ceramic tabletop during the making process. This exploration created a distinctive sense of movement along the sides of the surface. In the Mycelia Table, this technique evolves further, transforming the bent edges into a more fluid and organic form that gives the piece its unique character.
The base of the Mycelia Table reflects another development within the studio’s practice. Increasingly, the work embraces a more hand-shaped and organic language. The sculptural base embodies this shift, its form growing intuitively through the making process, echoing natural structures and reinforcing the studio’s ongoing dialogue between technical experimentation and the expressive qualities of the hand.
